Foo and Bennett would've been much better without the anchor that is Poirier tbh. Even Harvey The Hound would've been a step up

A lot Flame fans are hoping he can make the club & show why he was drafted where he was but I think he needs a year in the AHL to get his game back on track & be the go to first call up & not give them a reason to send him back down.

Poirier had like three good shifts in dev camp and people started running blind with that rhetoric.

Frolik looked even better than last year.

Brouwer played waay too much powerplay.

Haha...well maybe Brouwer on the powerplay in preseason will be enough to show he doesn't work there!

well that's my hope with Lack's poor outing
if he continues to show no signs of a big turnaround, maybe we'll finally get to see Gillies or Rittich playing in the bigs

Well.

Many penalties in one game and many posts in the other.

I am pretty sure Lack would clear waivers.

As an empathetic Oiler season ticket holder, I feel compelled to comment. After all, I did get my degree in Calgary (with Mr. Nenshi), although born and now live in Edmonton.

The Flames took a lot of penalties last night. One after another after another. My buddy and I couldn't believe the Flame parade to the box (in Edmonton, at least). The Edmonton game was seldom in doubt.... although if the Flames goal at the buzzer had counted, it would have been 3-1 going into the third with Pasquale in Net for the Oil. Maybe a comeback.

Yes Bennett played well for sure. He almost killed himself when his skate lace came undone and he skated over the dangling lace near the boards at top speed. He was noticeable whenever he was on the ice. I would still have taken Draisatl with the third pick, though.

We were lucky to get McDavid. We were soooo lucky to get the Arena deal done before the oil industry took a downturn. Better times are ahead for both teams. In the past 10-15 years, Oiler fans have suffered to an unprecedented level. Now it's like the 80's again here. There is an odor in the air here and it smells like Stanley.

Bring on the Battle of Alberta *.

A sensible oiler fan? Can't say I've seen that much!
Just kidding... I agree though, exciting times to be a 'Berta fan

Don't understand this Draisaitl vs Bennett debate though... Most oilers fans are acting like we had a choice between the two

Not that I don't think Benny won't be good... I'm with most people here when I say he's on the upswing starting this year! He just needed a little chin fungus

I don't know what people are expecting out of the goalies, but this is probably the worst tandem they've had in a while. It's not a big downgrade, but I'd put Smith, Elliott, and Ramo in the same tier, and Lack is among the worst backups in the league.

They're good enough to be successful, but the team is going to have to play defence in front of them because they're not goalies that are going to put the team on their back and carry them anywhere.

Gillies or Ritich will take over in goal after the trade deadline and we'll never have to worry about goaltending again.
